Syria says pipeline blown up by rebel saboteurs

BEIRUT (Reuters) - A Syrian pipeline carrying crude from oilfields in the east of the country was blown up near the restive city ofHoms Thursday, according to anti-government activists and the official news agency SANA.
Clouds of thick black smoke billowed over a high-rise suburb of the city, the epicenter of popular unrest against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that began in March.
China industry output growth slowest in two years

BEIJING (Reuters) - China's industrial output growth hit its slowest pace in more than two years in November and inflation tumbled as economic conditions deteriorated, raising expectations Beijingwill ease monetary policy again.
A batch of November data largely showed that growth in the world's second-largest economy was slowing down further as it feels the chill of the euro zone debt crisis, although retail sales were stronger than expected.
Fears over EU deal hit world stocks

LONDON (Reuters) - European stock markets and the euro fell on Friday on fears that EU leaders were struggling to come to terms on immediate measures to halt the slide of euro zone government bond markets after two years of deepening crisis.
EU leaders agreed stricter budget rules for the euro zone at a summit seen as crucial to the future of the single currency in Brussels, but failed to secure changes to the EU treaty among all 27 member states, meaning a deal will instead have to involve just euro zone states and any others that want to join.

NBA won't approve Paul trade to Lakers

The NBA's decision to reject a proposed trade involving All-Star guard Chris Paul set the stage for an awkward opening to training camps on Friday in New Orleans, Los Angeles and Houston.
The NBA-owned Hornets thought they had worked out a three-team deal to send Paul to Los Angeles in a deal that also would have sent Lamar Odom to New Orleans and four-time All-Star Pau Gasol to Houston.
